Being a Navy brat, I went to 13 different schools before I graduated from high school. I majored in French and began teaching English to French speakers in Kribi, Cameroon in 1967 as a Peace Corps Volunteer. Then I married François Dubois. By 1984 we had four children and I moved to France so they could go to French schools. I taught English to adults and earned a Masters and a DEA in English literature. In 1991 I began teaching translation and literature and writing skills at the DEPAA, an antenna of the University of Bordeaux. I then passed the Capes and later the agrégation and taught at Lycée Jean-Baptiste de Baudre from 1996 to 2012. Now that I am retired, I have begun giving private lessons. I use TPRS with my students, trying to make their English spontaneous and automatic. I have proposed workshops in TPRS for language teachers in French middle schools.
